Ohio Businesses Want More Government Interference in Health Care

A survey of Ohio small businesses is dire news for those who support more free market health care solutions. It seems that a majority of businessmen survyed want more government help in providing health care. If small businessmen, usually a strong line of defense against further government encroachment in our lives, feel this way, is there hope for consumer-driven health care?

Perhaps the results of this survey are simply an indication of the age we live in. As the small businessmen indicate, they are having trouble paying higher health care premiums. It seems the answer to every problem these days is to have the government "fix" it. And it is difficult for many to see the connection between government intervention in the small group market and higher health insurance costs.

This survey indicates, above all, that those of us who advocate for free market health care reform have a big job ahead of us. When small businesses want to increase the size of government, it means we have a lot of work to do.
