A proposed drug take-back program for Washington state that I mentioned a couple of months ago is now dead.
For background information, see American City and County, which outlines the concerns of public officials and other people.
Who can argue against pure water, the "apple pie" justification for such programs?
The Washington Policy Council has published both a short report and a policy brief (summary) on the subject. Of particular note are two questions. The first is "How do trace elements of drugs found in water supplies get there?" The second is "If we want to eliminate the possibility of drugs entering the water supply, what are the opportunity costs of doing so?"
